Our modern environment is FULL of chemicals that act as xenoestrogens. Xenoestrogens are chemicals and compounds from outside of the body, then when ingested or absorbed, act as weak estrogens in the body. Not to be confused with phytoestrogens from food that sometimes have health benefits, xenoestrogens are chemicals found in everyday personal care products, cookware, plastics, flame retardants applied to mattresses and furniture, and, in general, almost everywhere else you can imagine!
